Maintaining life sciences facilities and safety
The School of Life Sciences Facilities and Safety team is committed to supporting a healthy and safe work environment for all. This is a resource for facilities and safety requests and resources pertinent to maintaining a healthy and dynamic workplace.
Together we
- Collaborate at ASU to maintain and service all university-owned property and to develop and construct safe, innovative and sustainable facilities.
- Consult with ASU departments such as police, Environmental Health and Safety, Health Services, Risk Management and other entities including outside regulatory contacts.
- Manage space allocation and planning, moves and renovations.
- Maintain equipment and asset control.
- Mail and package services.
- Participate in ASU Recycling and Zero Waste.
- Provide and maintain common-use resources: autoclaves, ice machines, water polishers, greenhouses, environmental chambers, cold storage equipment loans and a dark room.
- Offer safety training and guidance.
- Authorize access to buildings and rooms.
- Coordinate with SOLS Human Resources and ASU Risk Management for volunteers.
Facilities and safety committee
The SOLS Facilities and Safety Committee members collaborate to provide input for developing long-term space plans and policies for SOLS Facilities and Safety. Because of finite resources and space, the committee supports the associate director of facilities to balance the needs of teaching, research, service, health, wellness and safety among students, faculty, staff, community and programs within the School of Life Sciences.
